Francesco Petrozzi

Francesco Petrozzi was born in Peru of Italian parents. His first role was that of Le Dancaïre in Carmen at the age of eighteen. But his career really took off when he sang Rodolfo in La Bohême at the Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich. He now performs in opera houses and concert halls all over the world - in Zurich, Francfort, Munich, Prague, Tokyo and Amsterdam among other places. He has also performed in several concerts in Austria, Canada, South America and the United States and has had the honour of working with such famous conductors as Zubin Mehta, Marcello Viotti, Fabio Luisi and James Levine.

Since 2002 Francesco Petrozzi has been a member of the Bayerischen Staatsoper Company in Munich where he won fame alongside some of the greatest names in opera such as Placido Domingo, Edita Gruberova and Siegfried Jerusalem. His repertoire includes more than twenty tenor roles. His most noteworthy performances were as Enzo in La Gioconda, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohême, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Manrico in Il Trovatore, Gustave III in Bal Masqué and Radames in Verdi’s Aida. He also sang Lensky in Tchaïkovsky’s Eugène Onegin in the Bass Hall of Fort Worth in Texas.

Francesco Petrozzi sang in the role of Nadir in The Pearl Fishers in the Opera Mauritius Festival 2009.
