Ann-Katrin Naidu was born in Germany of a German mother and an Indian father. She studied singing and music at the Conservatory in Stuttgart, her hometown, continuing her studies of Musicology and German Philology at the University of Tübingen. While still a student she performed at the Württembergischen Staatsoper. After perfecting her repertoire she sang frequently at the opera houses of Saarbrücken and Mannheim where she interpreted the well-known mezzo soprano roles.
Ann-Katrin Naidu lives in Munich. She had much success at the Staatstheater Gärtnerplatz there where she performed in over 25 great roles, including Bizet’s Carmen and Tchaikovsky’s Maid of Orleans. She has also sung Wellgunde and Waltraute in Wagner’s Ring under the direction of Zubin Mehta at the National theatre of Munich as well as in Valence and Florence.
Ann- Katrin Naidu has a vast repertoire, from the Bach Oratorios to contemporary music. She has sung the Requiems of Verdi and Mahler, and often performs in the most prestigious international productions. She has worked with conductors Lorin Maazel, Kent Nagano and Christian Thielemann.
