Cyril Joseph’s contribution to Mauritian musical life over four decades has been enormous. He started piano courses at the age of 8 and joined the police band at the age of 22, quickly becoming a versatile musician. Cyril Joseph is fascinated by sacred music and opera in general and has participated as rehearsal director and repetiteur in over a dozen operetta performances, notably Carmen in 1988 and Le pays du sourire in 2007.
This year, with the participation of the Opera Mauritius Choir and in collaboration with Katrin Caine, Cyril has yet again been an invaluable choral director and piano accompanist. He also shares his passion for music with students at the Conservatoire National de Musique François Mitterrand, where he is a part time teacher.
